  • A complex and dramatic plot divided into six chapter

  • The game is rogue-lite, so get ready to die frequently. And it’s challenging…

The narrative: A clone’s incredible adventure

It seems unreal that the Galactic Empire would suddenly fall apart after 700 years of prosperity and peace. The OMNIs, godlike machines who fulfilled every need for their human owners, have abruptly stopped functioning. Furthermore, humanity is in grave risk of going extinct since it has long since lost the ability to survive on its own. However, Gehenna, a planet of ice and rock with a top-secret facility that is both humanity’s final hope and the pinnacle of Imperial Tech, is located someplace in a remote part of the galaxy.

Admiral Ellys Idaho, the greatest Imperial Admiral to have fought in the galaxy, is your clone. You were recently awakened on this planet by Kaliban, the last surviving operational OMNI. Kaliban is an odd and darkly hilarious Guardian.

Your task is to expertly navigate a battleship through the now-chaotic, violent clusters of the Empire, where a single mistake might be your last, in an effort to reawaken the OMNIs and preserve humanity’s future. But time is quickly running out, so you had to get out of Gehenna now.

Gameplay

Fundamentally, Crying Suns is a tactical rogue-lite that combines tactical ship warfare with space exploration. During their expeditions, players must make tough choices, fight tactical battles in real time, and command an elite fleet of ships. Because the game takes place in a randomly generated environment, every playtime is unique and features new storylines and obstacles.

Managing your fleet and its resources while fighting enemy fleets tactically is the main focus of the gameplay cycle. Real-time fleet positioning and deployment of fighters, drones, and battleships while responding to enemy tactics are all part of combat. Strategy, resource management, and quick decision-making must all be balanced at all times.

Equally significant are the decisions you make while exploring the cosmos. You will encounter pirates, neutral traders, different groups, and the ruins of a once-great kingdom. Every encounter has the potential to result in battle, trade, or story-driven decisions that impact the mission’s conclusion.

Storyline and Setting

Crying Suns has a complex and enigmatic backstory. In the future shown in the game, the Galactic Empire has inexplicably collapsed after ruling for thousands of years. Ellys Idaho, a cloned admiral who awakens in a cloning facility, is the character you play. With the help of your robotic companion Kaliban, it is your goal to discover the truth about the fall of the Empire.

As you go farther into the galaxy and explore other star systems, you come across odd occurrences, adversaries, and relics from the empire’s past in each chapter. The game’s story is a key component of its appeal since it incorporates existential and philosophical concerns about mankind, power, and artificial intelligence.

Tactical Combat

Crying Suns combat combines tactical execution in real time with strategy.

One can customize their combat experience by selecting from a variety of battleships, each with unique advantages and disadvantages. As they advance, players can also upgrade their ships and units, which adds to the game’s sense of personalization and evolution.

Procedurally Generated Universe

The randomly generated universe of Crying Suns is one of the main features that distinguish it from other space strategy games. Every replay presents a different configuration of star systems, unforeseen encounters, and obstacles. Because of this, no two travels are ever the same, which greatly increases the replay value for players who want to carry on exploring after finishing the first time.

The game’s universe is full with factions with their own goals, unspoken secrets, and relics from a galaxy that was once devastated by war. Interacting with these factions and exploring the cosmos may result in surprising partnerships, hostile adversaries, or diplomatic interactions.

Sites

Initially, Crying Suns will be accessible on PC and Mac. Shortly after the desktop release, we also intended to release the game on the iPad.

Visuals and Art Style

Crying Suns is distinguished by its eerie, atmospheric style and eye-catching pixel art images. The game has a nostalgic vibe that goes well with its future plot, and its graphic design matches its deep space environment. The landscapes, which display the deteriorated remains of the empire’s once-glorious rule, are intricate and captivating.

Despite the pixel-based art approach, the ship designs and animations are extremely detailed. Everything feels painstakingly created, from enormous battleships to planetary scenery, which heightens the sense of immersion.

Sound and Music

Aymeric Schwartz’s soundtrack for the game adds even more mood. The eerie music in Crying Suns gives the game’s darker themes a deeper emotional dimension. In space fights, the sound design is equally crucial; explosions, weapons, and conversation all combine to produce a rich auditory experience that pulls players further into the story.

Replayability

Crying Suns provides considerable of replayability with its randomly created environment, several endings, and various options to explore. The game entices players to keep coming back to learn more about the fallen empire, whether they are experimenting with new ships or pursuing other storylines.

There are plenty of side storylines, secret encounters, and puzzles to uncover even after finishing the main plot, and every playthrough seems brand-new.
